Rothko Chapel, Menil Collection, and Picnic!

The Rothko Chapel is a non-denominational chapel founded by John and Dominique de Menil. The interior serves not only as a chapel, but also as a major work of modern art. On its walls are fourteen black but color hued paintings by Mark Rothko. The meditation garden is also now open!

The Menil Collection is a museum that houses the art collection of founders John de Menil and Dominique de Menil and includes paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, and rare books.

There is a park on sight that allows us to picnic after our tours, weather permitting.

This field trip is FREE to all who attend.

No photography in the galleries. No confetti or small items that are thrown and litter the grounds. To respect other visitors, we ask that educators and tour leaders do not lecture in the museum. Sketching is permitted in the galleries with pencils ONLY.
