Katy Math Circle
How would you like to get your children excited about math as amazing professors from Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin, and Rice introduce them to the wonders of math? Or celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 by learning about the math behind its route from the mathematician who actually developed it?
Look no further. Katy Math Circle (www.katymathcircle.com) is a math outreach program hosted by LIGHT Katy Coop Social homeschool group (www.lightkaty.com). Our circle is part of the National Association of Math Circles, a program of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute.
Our students also have sessions in which they work together to solve exciting math problems and play MathCounts National Math Club games under the coaching of our circle’s director. To view past presentation topics, please visit www.katymathcircle.com/meetings.
Katy Math Circle meets on Tuesdays after LIGHT Enrichment meetings from 1:00-3:00 pm at COTHA (1225 West Grand Parkway South, Katy, TX 77494).
Cost is $70 per year (half billed per semester), to purchase thank you gifts for our guest speakers and cover costs of operating our circle. Parents of participants volunteer once a semester as teaching assistants and also are encouraged to sign up to bring snacks. We meet twenty times per school year.
To register or for more information, please visit www.katymathcircle.com. We have limited spots. Please sign up early and come join the fun.
